Jazz Icons: Sarah Vaughan Live in '58 & '64

Because she could, and did, do it all.

 Speaking of Sarah, I got this Jazz Icons DVD of her for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, mostly because I was spending my spare time catching up on the Mad Men episodes that I had missed, and re-watching some of the ones I had seen, thanks to my brother Dick, who had copies of them all. Since I gave those back the other night, and since it is going to be NO degrees here this weekend, I plan on enjoying Sarah and the Oscar Wilde biography I'm reading. Not at the same time.    

I'm posting this now as my nephew, Rich, who plays Mad Men's Harry Crane, is kinda busy. Not only has Time Magazine named Mad Men the #1 new T.V. series, but the show has been nominated for a bunch of awards, including several from the WGA, 2 Golden Globes, a Satellite, as well as a special achievement award from the Satellites. Here is a blurb from the press release:

"Mad Men is also being handed a "Special Achievement Award" for Best Ensemble, Television. This AMC masterpiece so beautifully evokes a different era and feel with the lighting, music, angles, sets, costumes, etc. But it's the unbelievable performances from every actor on the show that makes you fall into their world."

I think that pretty much sums it up.

My nephew, the gentleman.

 My friend J'Aimee, who lives in NYC, spotted this shot of my nephew Rich in today's NYT Arts section. For those of you who don't know, Rich is an actor and is appearing in AMC's hit summer show, MAD MEN, as Harry. It's on Thursdays at 10:00 pm. If you don't watch it, you're crazy.
